His first book , Ascent to Love (1945 ) , discovered reflective vein or existentialist poetry uprooted young poets who took dramatically after the Spanish Civil War conflict between an existentialist outlook on life and a deep religious faith. In the same line and closer to certain mysticism followed Spring of Death ( 1946 ) ; both books reprinted together with the title Towards another light (1950 ) . In his later books include Oda in the ash ( 1967 Critics Award ) , The currencies against the slab ( 1973 Critics Award ) , Metaphor of lawlessness (1988 , National Poetry Award ) and The Eye of the Needle ( 1993) . In all these works his style evolved between realism and symbolism , but never abandoned his existential roots, his gaze became more cohesive and his style became less sober. [edit ] Theoretical Work From a young age , he became interested in investigating the poetic phenomena, especially the various forms of metaphorization , from the comparison classic saying Your hand is like snow, to highlight the whiteness of it , up to difficult surrealist metaphors such as aleixandrina swords and lips .
