Rok: 1990 AnotaceContains perhaps the greatest epic poem of revolution in twentieth century literature. Milev's `September', written to commemorate the uprising of Bulgarian workers and peasants in 1923 (regarded in Bulgaria as the first anti-fascist rising in Europe), is a poem of astonishing power. The poem cost him his life; he was convicted by military authorities for publishing a seditious work and was murdered in custody in 1925 at the age of thirty.
